How Diets Can Wreck Healthy Weight Loss

Have you ever lost weight on a diet only to regain more than you lost?

Well, you aren’t alone. You are among millions of fellow dieters who have experienced what I call ‘diet damage’ so you can stop blaming yourself!
Many diets fail because they often lead to restrictive eating, which can slow metabolism and trigger cravings, making it hard to sustain weight loss long-term. When we restrict calories, our bodies adapt by conserving energy and increasing hunger, both of which can make it difficult to lose weight and keep it off.

So what can we do to break this unhelpful cycle?

Instead of focusing on short-term dieting, prioritise gradual, sustainable lifestyle changes: this could look like eating balanced meals with plenty of protein and fibre, staying active, managing stress, and getting enough sleep. Small, steady habits are more effective and help support a healthier metabolism, making it easier to maintain a healthy weight.

In my clinic I help people to recover from the effects of ‘diet damage’, by helping to reset the mind and body relationship with science-based approaches to improve mindset, health and well-being found to support healthy, sustainable weight loss.

Wishing you good health and happiness,
