Sophie is a Clinical Psychologist who has experience working with young people and their caregivers to assess and treat a range of emotional, social and behavioural concerns. Since completing her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, Sophie has worked with children, adolescents and young adults across disability and mental health settings, including Novita and Headspace.
She is registered in South Australia as an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnostician and has previously worked within a dual-diagnostic team to provide ASD assessments for young people. Sophie also has experience conducting cognitive and learning assessments across the lifespan.
Sophie has a caring, empathetic and practical approach to supporting young people who are experiencing mental health, behavioural and disability-related concerns. She is passionate about working collaboratively with young people to understand their specific situation and concerns, and to provide them with a safe space to develop the skills they need to cope and live the life that they want.
Sophie recognises the importance of a child’s age, development, interests and family context in their engagement in therapy, and strives to provide therapeutic support that is individually tailored to each young person that she sees. Sophie uses evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Behaviour-Attachment-Systems Intervention for parents of children with conduct problems.
