Marilyn has worked as a clinical psychologist since 2005. She commenced employment in a government position as senior clinical psychologist at Child Protection Services, Adelaide. Marilyn then worked part-time in a private practice and, in 2008, established an independent private practice in association with a GP-based medical centre.
Marilyn has had extensive involvement with adults who have experienced a range of difficulties. Prior to her studies in psychology, she worked as a registered nurse and midwife. These experiences helped develop her ability to provide warmth, compassion and support for people in times of stress. Early in her career as a clinical psychologist, Marilyn worked closely with children and families experiencing trauma and crisis. Since then, she has studied and practiced a variety of skills to support her therapeutic approach, tailored to meet the needs of each individual client. In addition to practicing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, she has undertaken training in Mindfulness-based skills, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, trauma work, EMDR, and Hypnosis.
